Colorful Paper Dolls

 
 
"Where do you find inspiration for something new? Maybe not exactly new…maybe just fresh? A theme that was not too widely used (if it is at all possible these days)?" 
 
"Where do you find inspiration for something new? Maybe not exactly new…maybe just fresh? A theme that was not too widely used (if it is at all possible these days)?" These were my thoughts when I was asked to create a tablescape for the church event. After much thought (and chocolate) my Muse visited me. But of course -  Matryoshkas! Colorful girls: sweet, and lovely, and cheerful. They seem to be equally loved by adults and kids. And they are not widely used for projects.
 
Here is what I ended up making:
 

 

I have a wool hand-made shawl that my Grandma gave me for my 18-th birthday (I remember I was thinking: "Gosh, why am I getting THIS for my birthday?! I am not 180, I am just 18!" Well, it turned out to be my favorite shawl. Thanks, Grandma.). It is beautiful not only around your shoulders, but on the table as well. It is so rich in color and pattern, that there is no need for elaborate plates or napkins.
