This Old House

I love old houses. They have charm, they have class and they make "grateful clients".  Recently I finished a project in one of the old charming houses.

Recently I finished a project in one of the old charming houses.
The project turned out to be a perfect example of Redesign.
We did not buy one single item, but draperies. All we did was "shop" the Clients' home for the additional pieces.
When I first saw this living room, I noticed at once that it was very well proportioned with two large windows and a beautiful fireplace. The furniture layout was a bit awkward and gave the space a sad look. So the game plan was simple: to change the furniture layout and revive this beautiful room. Here is what we did:

The vintage chairs were reupholstered. New cheerful fabric revived the old chairs.

Art was rearranged. This beautiful original painting by a local artist took the central place above
the sofa (while before it was hanging on a side wall).

New custom draperies were hung. The ceilings are 9 feet tall in this house, but the crown molding is about 10" wide. We installed the drapery rods as high as we could so as not to loose the height. All the accessories belong to the client. All we had to do is shop the house.  And - voila! - now it is an inviting and fresh living room!
